Winching and Recovery

Winching and Recovery Training for 4×4 drivers is essential for operators who are expected to work in remote areas, or in terrain which is not regularly traversed.

Even the most experienced of off-road drivers have found that their vehicles and their techniques cannot overcome the terrain they are attempting to cross. When 4x4s do get stuck, the danger for drivers, passengers and equipment is far higher than when driving normally. Using specialist recovery equipment including hand-held or vehicle mounted winches demands specialist training under PUWER regulations and many winching operations come under the LOLER regulations.

LANTRA Winching courses are designed to ensure that operators understand their responsibilities under both PUWER and LOLER. Our 4×4 winching and recovery courses are designed to ensure that 4×4 recovery operations can be planned and carried out safely, whether simply with a shovel and a jack or with the most modern hydraulic, power take-off or electric winches.
